One of my favorites from Leah and josh’s engagement session
These two are so incredibly adorable. We went up to the mountains to incorporate fields, trees and water into their session. I couldn’t be more happy with how the photos turned out. I’m already looking forward to their bridal session and wedding day. For now enjoy their beautiful Engagements:
I am so in love with this Zion National Park wedding! This has to be one of my favorite weddings ever! Beatriz and Matthew are some of the sweetest people I have ever meet, I had so much fun spending the day in Zion with them and a few of their closest loved ones. Beatriz and Matthew are very into hiking and spending time outdoors, they first came to Zion in 2013 and fell in love with the park. I just love their intimate Zion elopement and I’m so thankful I was able to be a part of it.
Beatriz was kind enough to send me a wright up about her and Matt’s love story, I’ve included it at the end of the post. Its so sweet, you’ll love it:
“Matt and I met at the Hard Rock Hotel and casino in Las Vegas in April 2005, we both worked there as casino dealers, he worked the graveyard shift and I was the relief shift that would send him home. For 7 years we only said hello and goodbye, we were not even friends! The first time we had a little conversation was in March 2012, I had not seen him for a long time and noticed he had lost a lot of weight, I asked where he had been and he said “here the whole time”… I didn’t know his mom was losing her battle to cancer. A couple months later and thanks a mutual friends Facebook post, we became online friends and started snooping into each other’s lives. We then started to have little conversations when I relieved him and noticed that sparks were flying between us! In June 12th 2012 he asked me out to the movies, and we went on our first date. It was the first time I had seen him without a uniform and he looked amazing! We talked for hours after the movie.. He told me about his mother and how much he loved her and missed her and about the pain of losing her… The way he talked about his mother and his kids touched me so much! I know it sounds silly but I knew right then and there that he was the one for me. He says he knew too!We officially started dating on his birthday (6/17/12) I gave him a big birthday kiss .. And we have been inseparable ever since….From the beginning we had said that his mom was a big part of us getting together, but he needed a sign…On march 19th 2013, the first anniversary of Matt’s mother passing, we went for a bike ride around lake mead. He got a text from his dad asking him if he remembered 3:10… 3/10 happens to be my birthday and also, since Matt and I started dating, he’s heard the story that for some crazy coincidence, I look at the clock and it’s exactly 3:10 and that this has been happening my whole life… He didn’t know his mother had passed away at exactly 3:10 in the afternoon… I think his mom gave him the sign she wanted him to date and that he needed it. On May 21st 2013, Matt took me on a hike to Griffith peak (the 3rd highest peak in Nevada) We hiked all the way up to the top, where the bristlecone pines are. The oldest known bristlecone is named “Prometheus”, which is the movie we went to see on our very first date . After over 3 hours of hiking, we got to the top. Matt had prepared a new book to put in the container at the top for people to sign that made it to the top. Matt wanted me to sign it first. As I opened it to sign it, the first page of the book read “Matthew Mellor asked Beatriz Grados to marry him on 5/21/2013, and she said YES “. When I looked up after reading it, Matt was on one knee. He explained how bristlecone pines have lived for over 5000 years, and have spent their whole lives together. Matt said he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, and how he wished that he had spent his whole life with me. I started crying and of course said “yes”. We moved the whole family “officially” together in June 2013. One year after we started dating. In October 24th 2013, we decided to take a last minute trip to Zion National Park. It was the first time for both of us. From the moment we arrived we were amazed by the beauty of the place. We hiked “Watchman Trail” in about an hour on our first afternoon there, and on the next day we hiked “Angels Landing”. We also drove around the mountain through the tunnel and fell in love with the park! It became “our” special place. As time went by, we kept planning for a wedding but kept changing the dates and location. It was at the beginning of March when Matt brought up the idea of getting married in Zion, and we set the date for a day when we could elope. We didn’t realized at the time that April 24th marked exactly six months since our first visit to Zion, and by coincidence we picked that day as our wedding date. Planning a wedding in 7 weeks was not easy, we had nothing ready! But things came together pretty fast. My best friend Cathy married us. Cathy and I have been friends since we were in pre-k and she’s the sister I never had. It was extremely special that she could be with me on my wedding day. The last and hardest task was to look for a photographer, and it was by accident that I came across Sweetly Photography’s website. We LOVED her pictures from the very beginning, we knew that what she captured through her lens was exactly what we wanted. We were so right! Shannon was heaven sent!
Our kids have embrace our marriage with open arms, they are Joelle 11, Jason 7 and Gianna 4 years old. Joelle and Jason are very happy they have my daughter as their new little sister and she loves them so much. But most importantly in this story, Matt and I feel blessed for having found each other. We are best friends who love being in each other’s company. There is nothing like finding your perfect match, to look in each other’s eyes knowing that we are exactly where we belong, that our souls have found their home and hoping that when we take our last breath we will be looking at each other.”
